Welcome to AwayCoding

Hello, I am Paresh Bhatiya. I am a Senior Software Engineer at Atlassian and the person who writes, reviews and publishes every article on AwayCoding.

This site is not an anonymous content mill. It is a developer education project I maintain in my own name, based on work I have actually done: designing APIs, shipping backend services, running workloads on AWS and building full-stack products.

My journey as a developer

I did not start AwayCoding as a publishing experiment. I started it because I spent years learning the same lessons the hard way: unclear requirements, fragile code, production incidents and systems that were hard to change.

By day I work on real software problems at Atlassian. Outside that work, I write the explanations I wish I had earlier in my career. I care about the "why" behind a design, not only the syntax of a tutorial.

That mix of professional engineering and teaching is the standard I try to hold every page to. If a guide would not help a teammate in a code review, it does not belong here.

Expertise I write from

AwayCoding focuses on practical software engineering, with emphasis on:

• Backend development: APIs, services, data modeling, debugging and maintainable server-side design.
• Full-stack development: connecting frontend, backend and deployment so a feature actually ships.
• Cloud and AWS: how applications run in production, including cloud fundamentals, delivery and operational trade-offs.
• Software craft: clean code, testing, refactoring, code review and reducing technical debt.

I research official documentation, test ideas against real engineering practice and rewrite until the article is clear enough for a working developer to use.

Why this site exists

Mission: help developers learn clearly and build software they can maintain.

AwayCoding is for the curious developer who wants more than a copied snippet. You will find original tutorials, practical checklists and engineering notes on topics such as REST APIs, DevOps, debugging, clean code and cloud computing.
